Getting Started
Community Gaming is the all-in-one platform offering esports infrastructure to all key stakeholders in the industry. Through its seamless UX and highly scalable payment technology, the platform equips players, organizers, and game developers with the tools they need to simply create, facilitate, and participate in esports tournaments.
The platform pays out players their earnings immediately upon completion of their tournaments using smart contract payment technology. Players can earn money competing in tournaments, hosting their own events, the leaderboards and from the upcoming weekly Xpeditions system. We also run in-person events across the US which you can find out more about here.
Creating an account is simple. Click the Sign Up button at the top right of the homepage to get started. Step 1 is to enter your desired username, name, email, password, and date of birth. Step 2 verify your account. A new self-managed wallet will be created on your behalf or you can link your own.
Community Gaming does not have access to this wallet or its assets.
If you need additional help with this step, check out this video guide!
On the Homepage, you'll find the latest open tournaments. These are tournaments that have not yet started and are still joinable. Click into one and you’ll be taken to its Tournament Page to see the full details.
To enter this tournament, click the Join Tournament button to bring up the enrollment window.
For 1v1 games you won't need to create a team. When the tournament is started bracket will be visible in brackets tab and you can contact your opponent to start playing.
For team-based tournaments, you will need to join or create a new team and invite your teammates. After all your teammates have accepted your team invite, click the Join Tournament button above and enroll your full roster. Watch THIS video if you need additional guidance.
Join our Discord where you can communicate with tournament admins, meet other players, and find teams to join if you do not have a full roster!
Basics
Tournaments on our platform pay out prize pool winnings immediately after the tournament is over. This is because on the backend, the platform is using blockchain-based smart contracts to securely hold the prize pool in escrow, and automatically pay out the winning players to their linked wallets.
You can also earn in additional ways like completing weekly XPeditions, placing highly on the monthly leaderboards, and organizing your own events. We are a very social community so make sure to join our Discord so you can meet new players and find teammates.
Becoming an Organizer on our platform means less hassle, more tools, and support from us. Dealing with lengthy tournament creation, slow match reporting, and dozens of manual player payments is now a thing of the past!
You can also customize everything from the tournament format, currencies used, and prize pool payout structure.Creating a tournament should take less than 5 minutes and require no blockchain knowledge to take advantage of the platform's auto pay technology.
When creating your custom tournament, you can also earn an Organizer Fee. Organizers do a lot of work for their communities and should be incentivized to run great events. Organizing tournaments will also earn you rewards like Organizer Grants and monthly Leaderboard payments.
In order to create your own tournament, you'll need to be given Organizer Dashboard access which you can request here. Eventually we'll open up all accounts to be able to organize custom tournaments.
You can reach out to our help desk by clicking the support button at the bottom right of the page. We usually respond right away. You can also join our Discord to speak with an admin or message the #help-desk channel.
Tournament Details for Participants
If an Organizer has turned on the check-in feature, players (or team captains) will need to check-in before the tournament starts within the time frame designated. You will see the option to check-in at the top of the tournament page. Sometimes Organizers will also use a Discord channel to run check-in so make sure you read the rules set by the creator. Reach out to an admin or the help desk if you're not sure where to go when your tournament starts.
Join our Discord There is a channel dedicated to #looking4team. There you can utilize our Community Bot to help find teammates to compete and practice with! Check the pinned messages for our bots commands.
To double check you are properly enrolled for a tournament, you can check to see if your username is listed on the participants tab on the Tournament Page.
You can unenroll from a free tournament anytime before it starts by clicking 3 dots button on its tournament page and then clicking the unenroll button.
In order to donate to a prize pool, click the Donate button on the Tournament page. You will be prompted to enter your donation amount and submit the transaction.
If there is a non-ideal amount of players/teams signed up, certain players will get byes into the next round. Tournament admins decide which teams get byes.
Tournament Details for Organizers
Watch this video for a step-by-step on how to organize your first event! If you have any additional questions, please email us or reach out on our Discord.
When you are on the tournament creation page, you will leave the ‘Automate Prize Distribution’ on and below will be a drop down menu that says ‘Blockchain Type’. From there, you will need to choose which blockchain you want to deploy your tournament onto:
- Polygon Chain - Polygon is the first well-structured, easy-to-use platform for Ethereum scaling and infrastructure development. In order to create a tournament on the polygon network you will need to make sure your wallet is already connected to that Polygon (formerly called Matic) network and has a small amount of Matic in it. If you need instructions on how to bridge funds from crypto from the ETH Mainnet to Polygon, please watch this video.
- Ethereum Mainnet - Ethereum’s primarily layer 1 blockchain. Fees here will be higher than other options, but comes with the proof of work security of the Ethereum mainnet.
- BNB Chain - A smart contract-enabled chain launched by Binance. BNB Chain boasts a five-second block time, cross-chain asset transfers, EVM compatibility, and a Proof of Staked Authority consensus protocol to ensure scalability.

No, not if you don't want to. Streaming your events will bring more attention to them and is a great way to interact with your community, but it’s not necessary.
You can always reach out to us if you need help finding casters and production folks who can help you with your events! We have also launched a #freelance-jobs channel in our Discord where you can post about any roles or jobs you're looking for!
When setting up your tournament, you'll be given an opportunity to enter in what % of the prize pool will be allocated to you as the Organizer for running the tournament. This can be anywhere from 0-5%. Between promoting, running, and sometimes streaming an event, organizers work hard and they should be able to earn a fee for doing so.
As an Organizer for a game that's not API-supported on our platform, players can self report their scores into the bracket. If both players report the same results, the bracket will update automatically without an admin. As the TO you can also manually report match scores individually if needed. Simply click the match you'd like to report or change and enter the score into the pop up then click submit. Reporting the results of the final match will complete the tournament and you can then verify the results. Doing so will release the prize pool funds from the tournament smart contract to the winning players.
Account Wallets
A cryptocurrency wallet, sometimes called a blockchain wallet, is a secure digital wallet used to store, send, and receive crypto such as USDC, Matic or Ether. You'll need to generate or connect a wallet in order to receive crypto payments on the platform. Wallets are not used for non-crypto tournaments.
Clicking the View My Wallet button will bring you to your account-linked wallet. From here you can deposit or withdraw crypto out of your wallet. In the dropdown menu you will be able to choose which blockchain you are viewing assets on. Click Withdraw and enter the destination address to start your transfer
Please note: You will need a small amount of the native cryptocurrency of the blockchain you're using in your wallet to make a transaction. The amount will vary based on which chain you are using and the current average transaction fee. If you need assistance or have questions on wallets, you can contact support.
We have partnered with Crypto Refills to give you additional options for utilizing your crypto currency. You will be able to use your crypto on either the Ethereum mainnet or Polygon chain to purchase gift cards here.
Sometimes we offer unique tokens in our prize pools which can vary from game to game. You will have to add a custom token to your wallet. If you aren’t sure how to do that, check out this video!
Tournament prize pools for crypto tournaments are released immediately after completion. Processing a blockchain transaction can sometimes take a few minutes so check your wallet shortly after the event ends. If you were a winning player and didn't receive your winnings, please contact your tournament admin or support.
In Q3, we’ll be integrating a solution for players to convert their crypto holdings into their local currency in multiple countries. For now you can check out our CryptoRefills promotion where you can spend your crypto on a variety of popular gift cards. CryptoRefills also accepts USDC and DAI directly from the Polygon network.
When registering for a CommunityGaming.io account, one of the options is to connect your existing MetaMask wallet. MetaMask is a self-managed wallet which allows you to transact with almost all cryptocurrencies over the internet. You can also swap tokens and use other blockchain networks. If you’d like to use MetaMask to register you can download their Chrome extension here.
XPeditions System
XPeditions is an engagement feature of Community Gaming that allows users the opportunity to complete tasks (XPeditions) in exchange for on-chain rewards. XPeditions is currently in a closed Beta phase while development continues. Want to join the beta? Sign up at the XPeditions landing page to be added to the waitlist. We’ll be adding new users periodically to get fresh perspectives as the product grows.
XPeditions can be found by clicking the XPeditions button in the menu on the page header, or by visiting the XPeditions landing page.
The amount and type of rewards you earn will depend on the XPedition. For now, we’re giving out USDC on the Polygon chain.
WDaily XPeditions are designed to give you something to do every day. Come back to the XPeditions page each day to see your XPeditions! Daily XPeditions reset at midnight UTC (00:00) daily.
To receive credit for visiting links, you'll need to follow a hyperlink from the Community Gaming website. XPeditions that want to send you to an external location will present you with a “Take Me There” button. Click that to follow the link and earn credit. Entering the URL in the address bar will not give you credit.
The XPeditions page will display a Claim Rewards button when you have a reward available to claim. You can also claim your rewards from the My Rewards link on the Wallet page.
Yes! You can claim your rewards to an external wallet that supports the Polygon chain, such as Metamask, Coinbase, or the default CG Wallet through Magic.
Some XPeditions have a time limit. If time runs out before you complete the XPedition, it'll move to the archive/completed XPeditions list as Missed. Unfortunately, you will not be able to finish an incomplete XPedition that has expired. If you have outstanding Rewards to claim, you will still be able to claim them, but you won't be able to earn additional rewards from that XPedition.
Maybe! We'll be revealing more details on B2B XPeditions opportunities in 2023. However, for now, reach out to our partnerships team if you're interested in sponsoring one!
