Major NBA 2K League changes announced

The NBA 2K League announced a major revamp this week, hoping to transform the league into a global “new digital media brand.” The overhaul will include a retooled competitive ecosystem, and the 2025 season will feature live events with NBA players and celebrities to be revealed in the coming months. The league's struggle with viewership numbers in 2024 has prompted these changes, resulting in major shifts in broadcast teams, general managers, and coaches.

Andrew Perlmutter, the league's first CEO, announced the upcoming changes in a brief meeting with staff on July 2nd. The league is expected to go on a hiatus before relaunching in 2025. For more, read the press release here.
