Halo has been a mainstay in gaming since the first game in an infinite saga was released back in November of 2001. Being one of the oldest counting games in a continuing series, the announcement of Halo Infinite and the partnered organizations involved (including Cloud9, FaZe Clan, Team Envy, and more) in it’s esport scene brought back the memories of the heyday of the Halo Championship Series. In partnership with BrookLAN, Community Gaming is proud to put on the Halo MCC Charity Tournament. Playing in squads of two, duos will play through various game modes from Halo 1, Halo 2, and Halo 3, with fan favorites such as Slayer, Capture the Flag, and Oddball. With a 500 dollar prize pool and a double elimination bracket with best of threes until the finals (which will be best of five), there is plenty of reason to shoot your shot and see if you can become champions. One of those being the incredibly fast payouts that happen immediately after the event. But there is more to be playing for.
The most important part may be the cause that the event is in support of. As great as winning is, you’re also helping to raise money to help those in need. As mentioned in the event name, players will be paying an entry fee that goes in part to Tuesday’s Children, a charitable organization that provides healing for families who have been affected by acts of violence.
BrookLAN is the best place to do it, with state of the art PC’s, food at the ready, and plenty of events run, including the Valorant Battle for NYC, which was put on by Community Gaming and hosted by BrookLAN.
With LAN coming back, this is the perfect time to venture back into the world (if you’re vaccinated). In accordance with New York City guidelines, you must show proof of COVID-19 vaccination to enter the building. Proof can be either your vaccination card and your ID, or your New York Excelsior Pass.
Don’t have a partner? No problem! Community Gaming is at the forefront of grassroots tournament organization, helping streamline the process to be easy as ever for all those involved. You can use this Discord server to try to find a partner for the event in the #HALO text channel and stake your claim as an amazing Halo player.
